Cook pasta in a generous amount of
boiling water until just tender. Drain and keep hot. Melt butter and saute shallots
until just tender (2 minutes). Add basil and capers and cook
another 2 minutes. Add cream and mushrooms and allow
to cook rapidly for 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add cheese and black pepper. Stir gently to dissolve cheese. Serve over pasta.
