Method :
- Marinate the pomfret fillets with
half the salt, lemon juice and turmeric powder.
- Keep aside for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a nonstick pan and fry
the marinated fillets till golden brown.
- Drain and keep aside.
- To the same oil, add mustard seeds
and curry leaves and sauté till the seeds crackle.
- Add chopped ginger and onions and
cook till onions are soft.
- Add tomatoes and cook till the oil
separates.
- Stir in the red chili, cumin and
coriander powders and the remaining turmeric.
- Stir for 1 minute.
- Mix in the yoghurt.
- Bring the boil and simmer for 7
minutes.
- Slip the fried fish into the curry
and simmer for another 4 minutes.
- Carefully remove the fillets and
place on the serving dish and pour the curry on top.
- Serve hot, accompanied by steamed
rice or Chappatis and Mixed Vegetable Raita.
