Fish In Yoghurt Cooking Recipes

Ingredients :

pomfret fillets

lemon juice

turmeric (haldi) powder

oil

mustard (raee) seeds

curry leaves

ginger, chopped

onions, chopped

tomatoes, chopped

red chili powder

cumin (jeera) powder

coriander powder

yoghurt, whisked

salt to taste

Method :
  1. Marinate the pomfret fillets with half the salt, lemon juice and turmeric powder.
  2. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a nonstick pan and fry the marinated fillets till golden brown.
  4. Drain and keep aside.
  5. To the same oil, add mustard seeds and curry leaves and sauté till the seeds crackle.
  6. Add chopped ginger and onions and cook till onions are soft.
  7. Add tomatoes and cook till the oil separates.
  8. Stir in the red chili, cumin and coriander powders and the remaining turmeric.
  9. Stir for 1 minute.
  10. Mix in the yoghurt.
  11. Bring the boil and simmer for 7 minutes.
  12. Slip the fried fish into the curry and simmer for another 4 minutes.
  13. Carefully remove the fillets and place on the serving dish and pour the curry on top.
  14. Serve hot, accompanied by steamed rice or Chappatis and Mixed Vegetable Raita.
