Tomato
skins can be a bit tough, so remove them when making delicate sauces
and soups, or special salads and salsas.
- Cut a
shallow cross through the skin in the top end of each tomato
furthest from the stalk.
- Place the
tomatoes in a bowl of boiling water and leave for about 1 minutes.
The skin should start to come away from the flesh around the cuts.
- Remove
one tomato and start to peel away the loosened skin. If it comes
away easily, drain the remaining tomatoes and refresh in cold water.
If it is not easy to peel tomato, place it back in the bowl of
boiling water and leave for another 15 seconds and try again. Slide
the skins off all the tomatoes when they are ready.
