The next time you feel like preparing
something different in your microwave, consider duck. Though duck is a
popular festive fare, it would be wise to test out recipes before you
attempt to prepare duck dishes for special occasions. Like chicken, you
can prepare duck in many ways in your microwave; it can be roasted,
boiled, steamed, braised, stir-fried, simmered and double-boiled. To get
the crunchy crispy skin after roasting, you can just deep fry it in hot
oil the traditional way for about 2-3 minutes.
Cooking tips for Duck Recipes :
- To roast duck, cover the tips of the
wings with aluminum foil (the dull side out) to prevent it from getting
burnt and dry.
- The strong smell of the duck comes from
the waxy part at the 'bishop's nose'. Get rid of this smell by simply
removing that part.
- To brown the outer part of the meat in
the microwave oven, a browning dish must be used. The browning dish is
specially made for this purpose.
