25th December is an annual celebration of
the birth of Jesus. It is also called Christmas. Traditionally, it is
impossible to forget that Christmas is coming for members of the
Christian religion. However as time goes by, non-Christians observe
Christmas as holiday's secular traditions. On this festive occasion,
people around the world will hold a grand celebration.
Although the exact day of Christmas has
never been pinpointed, the popularity of Christmas was actually spurred
on in 1820 by Washington Irving's book The Keeping of Christmas at
Bracebridge Hall. In 1907, Oklahoma became the last US state to
declare Christmas as a legal holiday. And so, from year to year,
countries all over the world started to recognize Christmas Christmas on
25th December as the day for celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Santa Claus
Who is Santa Claus? Children are taught
that he is the person performs miracles and wonders every Christmas Eve.
He can fly through the sky and deliver gifts that each child desires,
all over the world. In addition, children are taught that Santa Claus is
all-good and all-just, he rewards good children and leaves the bad ones
empty-handed. To be realistic, Santa has not always appeared the way we
think today. But the first well-known gift-giver was a real person known
as Father Christmas - St. Nicholas.
